Wirra Wirra International Red Winemaker of the Year at the prestigious 2007 International Wine Challenge Awards Dinner in London. The 2004 vintage Angelus was awarded three Trophies, including Best International Cabernet Sauvignon. An enormous achievement, Wirra Wirra was the only Australian winery to be short-listed for the accolade and beat off stiff international competition. Namesake Chateau Angelus Bordeaux, takes particular exception to the Wirra Wirra wine, labeled as Dead Ringer Cabernet outside of Australia.

Robert Strangways Wigley was an eccentric South Australian cricketer who established Wirra Wirra in 1894. He produced a highly prized Shiraz which was exported to England and the Empire until he passed away in 1925. The cellars fell into disuse after the 1936 vintage and remained inoperable until Greg and Roger Trott rebuilt the ironstone winery by hand in 1969. Tradition has it that the ¾ tonne Angelus bell which sits atop Wirra Wirra was rung thrice daily from the Jesuit Church at Norwood, calling the faithful to prayer.

Since establishment in 1998, Wild Fox have been dedicated to detailed organic, bio-dynamic farming practices. The cleanliness of their soils after years of organic farming is proving to be a major factor in the sensational quality of fruit. The Wild Fox property is A Grade certified by Biological Farmers of Australia. Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from vineyards which are wholistically managed in tune with the cycles of the sun and moon, graciously receiving the gifts of mother nature, healthy soil, natural sunlight and pure water, to make great wine.

One of the things that West Cape Howe do best, is to find the perfect site for each varietal grape and style of wine. They are certainly fortunate to be based within Australia's largest and most propitious winegrowing region, but their viticultural team demonstrate an uncanny feel for matching the ideal mesoclime to every wine. The parched, sun exposed vines at Water Wheel are only a slight distance from the shade of giant river gums, which grow along the banks of Loddon River. The worthy vineyards along Stonewell Road at Marananga, have been source of the most memorable vintages in Barossa Cabernet. Tscharke established a smaller block of vine here in 2001, the quality of fruit however belies its teenage years. The auspicious plantings were sown east to west, aimed at protecting fruit from the parching late afternoon summer sun. It was the great Cabernet wines of Bordeaux which inspired Bill Taylor to diversify from imports and retail into the highly fraught pursuit of grape growing. An ardent enthusiast of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Taylor had a keen enough palate and nose to determine that the most auspicious lands for Cabernet Sauvignon were amongst the idyllic rolling pastorals of Valley Clare. Next door to the Taylor estate was a sleepy winery originally founded in 1896, one of the first in the Valley, it had not been operational since 1934. In 1995 Taylor acquired the property and set about the task of recreating history with the re-issue of the timeless St. Andrew. Australia's most enduring flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, with a history of awards at prestigious international competitions including Concours de Mondial Bruxelles, St Andrew continues to attract international acclaim by virtue of its peerless quality of fruit and artisanal winemaking.

Taylor's are Clare Valley through and through, their red wines in particular are brimming with the adorable regional characaters of blueberry and mint. Harvests from viticultural precincts further afield are called upon to embellish and enhance. A celebration of regional synergies, the backbone of softer, aromatic Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has been invigorated by the masculinity of Coonawarra fruit. Tassell Park is situated in the Treeton Valley, four kilometres east of the township of Cowaramup, hub of the Wilyabrup subregion in Margaret River. This is the heart of the country which has given birth to one of the world's great Cabernet Sauvignon appellations. The Tassell Park property is closely managed by a highly skilled viticultural team who spend many hours tending the vines by hand and caring for the local ecosystem to make it all happen. Established circa 1860, amongst the scenic Nagambie Lakes, Tahbilk is one of Australia's most historic wineries, with a long and proud history of producing Victoria's most reliable Cabernet Sauvignon. Following his return from service after World War II, Eric Purbrick discovered a cache of wine hidden in 1876 under the Tahbilk cellars. Though pale in colour, it was sound and drinkable after 71 years. The promise of long lived red wine inspired Purbrick to establish new plantings in 1949, today they are some of Victoria's oldest productive Cabernet vines.

Crafted from the best of vintage Cabernet Sauvignon, the choicest parcels collated from across the wonderful endowment of Tahbilk vineyards. It was the serendipitous discovery of a very old bottle Cabernet, unearthed just after WWII, from within the ageing Tahbilk wineworks, that inspired Eric Purbrick to re establish opearations after a long period of neglect. Tahbilk remain home to the eldest and most distinguished Cabernet vines. Eric Stevens Purbrick is dressed to impress, intensely flavoured with opaque berry flavours, sheathed in a veneer of graceful oak.
